Steve Millard

Steve Millard grew up in Arlington, Virginia in a loving family of Mom, two older brothers, and a Dad who played piano and sang in the church choir. The house was often filled with the sounds of classical, jazz, folk, and hymnal music. He played saxophone and flute in school, then went to college in southern California, where he met and married his Botany teaching assistant. He received a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Washington in Seattle and then taught at universities and worked in the fields of environmental monitoring, statistical software, and medical research (the last 15 years he worked with doctors and scientists at the Seattle VA Medical Center in the pursuit of new therapies for the health care of Veterans). He has authored/co-authored several journal articles and books. Along the way he found time to write some music (SteveMillardMusic.com). Now mostly retired, he and watercolor artist Susy Soulies have written a children’s picture book: “I Am Grateful”. Steve lives in Seattle with his wife Stacy and enjoys visiting his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren in Pittsburgh.
